Telemedicine

What Is Telemedicine?

Telemedicine is a virtual visit conducted with one of our providers via a secure HIPAA-compliant platform. This option is convenient, allows your child to be seen without coming into our office, and provides care by your regular pediatric provider who is familiar with your child.

Virtual visits are not for all conditions. When you call to schedule, we can help navigate what type of visit is most appropriate for your child or for your concerns.

We also provide telemedicine appointments for behavioral and mental health concerns. We may ask that you schedule an in-office visit for your first visit.

It is also possible that after a telemedicine visit we may ask you to bring your child in for an in-person sick visit if we need to perform a physical exam that reaches beyond the abilities of video conferencing.

Appointments for telemedicine visits can be made by calling our office.

Before Your Appointment

  • Have your child practice opening his/her mouth wide for the camera using your flashlight
  • If cough or difficulty breathing, check your child's respiratory rate (count the breaths per minute) and heart rate (see below)
  • Take several close-up photos of the rash to send (if requested). These can also be uploaded to our Patient Portal and sent in ahead of time to provide better photo resolution
  • Write down all of the medicines your child has been taking, and when they last took a dose of ibuprofen or acetaminophen
  • Have current medications or inhalers/spacers available for viewing during the visit
  • Write down any questions you have, as you might forget them during the telemedicine visit!
